On July 1, 2008, I am inaugurated as President of Korean American Federation at the heart of Korean American community, Los Angeles.

"Scarlett Eum inaugurated as the 29th Korean American Federation President"

This was the headline of newspaper that announced the new challenge and change of my life. President of KAFLA had long been understood sometimes as the position that represents a million Korean Americans and devotes oneself to quality community service, or sometimes as the stepping stone toward politics in Korea that often condemned for mistakes regardless of hardworking. I have worried about the righteous role of President that could turn over the bad reputation.
Despite of frustration by rumors on election and senior center, I realized that presidency of Korean American Federation is meant to work for the Korean American community as a servant. It actually is based on the simple truth that serving the poor and the weak will pay it forward and eventually blossom the entire Korean American community.
Since then, I gained much confidence with the help of KAFLA board members. KAFLA soon started vocational school and ESL class, and succeeded in acquiring the first ever aid of 150 thousands from CRA/LA. We continued to develop projects such as Koreatown boundary petition, benefit program, and OCERT program for the great good of Korean American community.
Respectable Korean American community members,
I will consistently pursue "change we can build on" with all the member of KAFLA. You can have faith in us.

The 29th KAFLA President
Scarlett Eum
